Think of the things you expel daily.
Go ahead, take a peak before you flush.
Not that the two are equivalent, but it would be a terrible joke for pain to be visited upon us unnecessarily and still be considered a successful species.
Life, and the continuation of life (success of species) suggest the minimizing of stress on oneself This apples to us, and our other earthly partners, including chickens.
The egg coming out roundest side first would fly contrary to this practical rule.
That being said, as a young kid, we had some chickens around, I never took the opportunity for self discovery.
However, my vote --- Pointed side comes out First.
Otherwise chickens would protest, then we would have picket lines, . . . ;-)

I have college research papers on this topic and I "firmly" believe it has to do with whether the hen herself is round or pointy? If she's round then for sure she is going to have a round egg...and if she's pointy, then she will definitely have a pointy egg. Now if the hen is round AND pointy, well then we have an EGG of a different color!

Pointy end it allows the area er.. opening to dilate smoothly. Look at the way an egg slowly gets bigger, this so we don't have to give chicken episotmies (the stitches they do when a pregnant women tears).

How do you know that the egg came first? It could have been the chicken :)
