I am comparing the features of Final Cut Pro vs. Adobe's Photoshop and its like. My friend tells me that I don't need Final Cut pro for our Indie film and Photoshop and other Adobe products will work just wonderfully. What are the advantages and disadvantages of having Final Cut Pro over Adobe's line up? Also can you suggest any other programs an amature indie film maker mind need to create a successful student film? (Bear in mind I cannot ask a teacher since i'm still in community college)

Adobe has a more complete line of creative products to include video, multimedia, desktop publishing, web productions, etc. FinalCutPro itself is for video editing only.

If you purchase the Final Cut Studio, you'll get a suite of products that include: FCP (industry standard), Motion (for animations & graphics; comparable but not as powerful as AfterEffects); DVD Studio Pro (the industry standard for DVD authoring); SoundTrack (pretty good drag and drop music creation and good audio cleaning tools that work nicely with FCP); Compressor (nice file conversion tool & DVD file creator).

Adobe has a comparable video suite that includes Premiere, AfterEffects & other multimedia related products in various sets.

Having used both FCP and Adobe Premiere (video editor), I prefer FCP far and away. It's much more stable, user friendly and powerful than Premiere. If you're using a PC, then Premiere will be fine. But, if you have a Mac, go with FCP.

they're comparable yet from what i hear Adobe superior is greater convenient and greater consumer friendly. My buddy works for the boys & women club and that they make video clips utilising the two courses.
