What is your favorite category to write about? Fiction - sci-fi/adventure/fantasy? Non-Fiction? Biographies, poetry? What do you like the most about writing in this particular genre and what or who inspired you to write about *whatever you're writing about*?

My favorite genre of writing is fiction/fantasy. I'm currently writing two stories, both of which I intend to write screenplays from them when I'm done. My favorite author is J.R.R. Tolkien - saw all three Lord of the Rings movies and enjoyed them all! I used to write short stories when I was very young. Whenever I got an idea for a brief story in my mind, I would jot them down in a composition book. It's a fun field to get into, in my view, especially fiction - you can let your imagination go wild 'cause it's endless.

The trouble is is that I have doubts about whether my stories will make it as far as the screenplay stage, but because of the enjoyment I get from writing my fantasy/fiction stories, I keep writing them anyway.

"Favorite category?" I think I probably don't have one. I suppose over the years I've been writing (some 30 +), I've pretty much written what I was being paid to write. I started off documenting the airplanes I was working on (Air Force, England during the Vietnam war), since then I've written computer documentation by the ton. I've written two novels (sci-fi/fantasy/romance, and a murder mystery). The murder mystery has recently been picked up by an agent and will hopefully be on the bookstore shelves soon. I'm in the process of writing my auto-biography. A book about the Bible. I've written quite a bit of poetry, some short fiction (short stories). I can't think of much I haven't written. I guess I just write what grabs me. It IS nice to be paid, though. To get paid, you pretty much have to write what the guy wants whose name is on the paycheck.

I write in multiple genres. fantasy (my favorite)...historical fiction...poetry about nature and life...and more. What I like writing about fantasy is that almost verything can happen. magic can appear randomly however it must havea purpose. thrust someone unknowngly into a stargne situation and endless possibilties occur. mystical creatures fasinate me...and everyone has a different picture of them. You get to create your own world...amke your own rules... :) its fun.
Historical ficiton you study one period of history and say what if. what if you had lived during the civil war era as a confederate soldier whose family lived in the union? what if you and your oldest son left the east inorder to make your fortune in the west? and it is not only limited to American history...you could also make hisotrical fiction but in a different time period...like taking an event and seeing how it would be played differently due to the laws and goverment then. Experimentation is fun.
poetry...in a way the language of the soul...it can be dark...or light. Deep or light...it range from the topic of Garfield lol to a personal struggle. it shows how you perceve the world. you can use metaphors galore or plain and simple language. it is so broad that nothing is wrong.
Who inspired me to write? movies...my favorite authors...God (with out him I would not have many of my ideas)...favorite songs...just listening to the radio and the lyrics...it gives a lot of ideas for me. but one person that you could say started the ycle was my 7th grade english teacher...freewritign about weird topics...and a whole bunch of stuff...it was fun ans my imagination flew off in a thousand differnt directions and I thank him for that.
:) thank you for askign this question.
God bless you.

I write literary romance that's suitable for adults of all ages but safe for younger readers.

Life inspired me. I write about situations I've seen and those I've read or heard about, delving deeply into my characters using my psychology background. I grew up in an artistic family and so something relating to the arts is in everything I write.

I write in this genre only because it was natural. The stories were in my head. I simply transcribe and then edit to make them readable to others.

I'm a particular fan of authors like Jane Austen, Louisa May Alcott and Charlotte Bronte. Women writers who write about what they know, about life, love and family, themes that are still relevant long after these fantastic women and writers have gone to the next life.

Fantasy/adventure It is a fascinating genre with endless possibilities. Nobody inspired me to write my current book other than myself. It is my dream.

Mine is a mixture of fiction, Sci-Fi and fantasy and a little romance all rolled into one.
What like most about my style is that everything and anything goes, I can practically, wisely so, get away with "murder".

I like writing poetry, because I like to play with words. Lots of times poems just come to me. I think anyone can get their mind to do this by writing a lot, then just expecting your mind to give you things when you ask for it. Things may come when you don't ask, so keep paper and pen handy. Sometimes I ask for a particular subject, sometimes not. I don't write as well when I try to hard.
