what does that mean?

my question is what does that mean if a guy is'nt taking his girlfriend seriously and does'nt have a feeling or indepth of the relationship he's in cause i have a friend who has a girlfriend well they got back together and they been together for 4 months and they live long distance so and well he has some personal problems that prevent him form forming the relationship and he's needy emotionally.
