It may have alot of junk in it. Lets clean it up. You say your computer is virus free, how about spyware/adaware? Run the 2 programs below to make sure.

Download, update and run Spybot---http://www.safer-networking.org/ . Don't forget to use the Immunize feature.

Download, update and run Adaware---http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/products/select_your_product.php

Now we know it is clean lets get to work on cleaning it up.

Now do a disk cleanup and disk defrag. You can get to both of them by the same path.

Start>all programs>accessories>system tools>Disk Cleanup.

When it is done go back and do a Disk Defrag.

It happens a lot because due to low memory. Go ahead and run a virus scan any way because you could also have a bug or a virus as well. Just to make sure. And another go to control panel, click on performance and maintenance, and then click on disc cleanup. Cleanup files can also help your system function better too. I hope that this works for you

May be due to low RAM memory. There may be many reasons for this problem. I can give you a link that deals with hard drive problems. Some RAM/hard drive problems can be easily fixed yourself by using easily available tools. I found the info at http://fixit.in useful
