check and see if your hand brake or park brake is on, that should be the problem. Someone could have pulled it up when you weren't looking.

Sounds like you might just be a little low on brake fluid. One of the functions of the light is to tell you when you are low on brake fluid. There is a reservoir under your hood. It's difficult to describe, but it probably has a rubber cap. The cap should tell you what type of brake fluid to use. Fill it with the proper brake fluid and hopefully it will keep the light from coming on. If not I would take it to a mechanic as soon as possible as your brakes are nothing to gamble with.
Good luck.

it must be countless issues. the 1st ingredient you ought to examine is the point of brake fluid interior the brake fluid reservoir. while the point gets low now and lower back the sunshine comes on. you could examine that your self. yet another ingredient it must be is your brakes could desire to be re-adjusted or replaced. despite if your motor vehicle stops basically positive they may well be wearing on the ingredient of the tip of their suited working limits and could at last value you extra to restoration them in case you forget approximately with regard to the sunshine. i in my view had a similar subject with my motor vehicle and each thing recognized good, however the sunshine saved approaching and going off. The brakes are workstation controlled on my motor vehicle and what had befell is that the floor cord that connects the workstation to the physique of the motor vehicle had broken, that set off off the fault code and the sunshine got here on. it ought to help to know what sort of motor vehicle you're using yet once you cant locate the subject it particularly must be checked my a mechanic, just to be on the secure area!

It could be a Small Switch Located on the cable connected to the E-Brake (ON FLOOR MODELS YOU USE WITH YOUR FOOT) similar to this http://www.pwrtech.com/images/news/tips/parking-brakeSwitch-lg.jpg . It has a copper contact in it and can break causing a brake light to come on its a piece less than 10 dollars.

Driving with the hand break or parking break on is really bad on your breaks. If it is a hand break just push the little button and make sure it is all the way down. If it is a parking break just pull the little handle under the steering wheel. Some of the newer parking breaks require you to push it down all the way to the floor to get it to come back up.

check fluid level.
make sure park brake is fully disengaged,
push brake hard to floor to try and reset the combination valve- if it resets and comes back on later you have a leak, clogged system somewhere or bad sensor,
check brake system to make sure no leaks, if fluid low need to check brake system for leaks or worn pads or shoes.
try those. good luck

It is probably just a sensor. Car manufacturers use lights and sensors so that way you can take your car in for a check up and in turn thy charge you hundreds of dollars in doing so. I would just check the brake fluid and light bulbs. ( times out of ten its probably nothing) just check just in case

It could be a faulty sensor. Either way, I would get it checked out. Good brakes are extremely important .

You have a sensor to let u know that the pads are wearing out. Only way to make it go off is to have breaks installed, Unless its a bad switch. I took the dang things off my Mercerdes just for that reason
