Regular chiropractic care and massage therapy!!! I am a massage therapist, and I know for a fact that if you can find someone who actually knows what they're doing (instead of just knowing how to give a good relaxation massage) it can deffinitely relieve sciatic pain... I went to school for two and a half years to get my assosciates degree in massage, and I had a client who is actually no longer experiencing sciatic pains. Most of the time, the reason you have pain is because your piriformis muscle is impinging your sciatic nerve and irritating it. If you can get that muscle to relax and release, you will no longer have that pain. (But to prevent it from happening again, there are also some things you will need to do for homecare which your therapist should tell you about, as well as getting regular chiropractic care and massage)

Do I ever!!!! I suffered from this for years, then 3 months ago an acupressure massage place opened (in the mall, of all places.) Everyone who works there is Chinese. I showed the guy where my pain radiated from and down my leg, he just smiled and went to work.

Man, it hurt when he did it, but let me tell you after that acupressure I stood up off that damn table pain free for the first time in YEARS!!! It started to creep back after about 10 days, I went in again, this time it didn't hurt quite so bad to get the treatment, that lasted 2 weeks then a small amount of pain, went again, this time even better. Now I don't even notice it after 4 treatments.

I cannot tell you how great I feel after all that time with my hip and leg having pain all the time!

This is after a neurosurgeon told me in January I was screwed, there was nothing he could do, and gave me a script for pain pills.
Screw that!

PLEASE try to find a genuine Oriental acupressure specialist, what do you have to lose? Best, Merry Christmas, Suz

I'm also looking for the cure - so far, live on painkillers as and when necessary. Regular exercise (to strengthen the back muscles) have helped somewhat. Email me if you get any valid/ better answers pls.
