I provide eldercare for my mother at home. I am thinking about writing a short book about how to do it for newbies. I have thought about several services for the elderly that are not commonly available. One that is needed is toenail trimming. To do this you would need to attend a short school for nail care and get liscensed. The lock companies charge $35 to come to your house and let you into your car if you are locked out. Therefore I think $50 is a reasonable charge to visit some elderly person at home and do their toenails. Almost all of them are not able to do it safely for themselves. There are at least two ways to leverage this service. The first is to set this up as a business with yourself as manager. Find some young girls needing to earn money for school etc and show them how to get trained and liscensed. Then provide them with jobs and take a commission from each job. This is the Amway approach. The second way to leverage the home nailcare business is to look around while in the patients home for other services/products needed for the elderly. I will give you one right now. Attach a cat bell to a bracelet. This will allow the caregiver to be aware of the location of the patient and if they are moving around. Take these with you on the job and offer them for sale. There are many others.
