I've never used my iPod before, in fact, I just got it today for Christmas, but I already had iTunes (the latest version) on my computer, with many songs and some videos in my library. I charged my iPod completely with a separate charger before using it. The directions say "When you connect iPod to your computer, iTunes opens. Follow the onscreen instructions to load songs and videos from iTunes onto iPod" yet when I plug mine in, iTunes does not open, and I do not get the promised onscreen instructions. I don't see the iPod in iTunes or My Computer either. I've tried "the 5 R's" on the apple site to no avail. What else can I do? Is there a phone number for support I can call or something? Anything?

Even though you already have iTunes, I recommend putting in the CD that came with the iPod, It will try to install Itunes again but it also should install some drivers for your computer which will aid in connecting the ipod. If that doesnt work: Copy your entire Itunes folder (usually in My Documents\My Music) to another location like your desktop. Then, uninstall iTunes. Then run the disk that came with the ipod to reinstall iTunes, and the ipod drivers. Once iTunes is reinstalled copy the itunes folder on your desktop back into its old location (My Documents\My Music) and let that overwrite whatevers there, that will put your old itunes music and library information back into the new itunes install.
Be very sure to copy your itunes folder and Music somewhere since iTunes doesn't let you re-download purchased music!

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling Itunes? That worked for me when my ipod would not connect.
