There is no 'remedy' for influenza. Do you have influenza, or just a bad cold?

Take aspirin (preferably dispersible). Eat hot soup and bread. Drambuie (a Scots liquer), taken as a large shot (1/4 pint) at bedtime, is my sovereign - it does not cure the illness but it makes you feel better.

STAY IN BED. Get a friend to nip around to the shops for your soup and bread - they are all open tomorrow. Don't try to cheer yourself up by going down the pub or to see family - you'll only infect them and make them miserable.

If you start to cough up green or yellow phlegm, or if a similar exudate emerges from your nose, consult a Doctor of Medicine - you may have an infection that needs antibiotics.

None of the vaunted 'flu remedies will take one hour off your misery. They may make you feel a bit better, and thus able to go out, but your body is weakened, you could well be passing on your lurgy to everyone else, and there is no cure for the cold or the 'flu.

I feel your pain but I'm sick with a horrible sinus infection instead. You can take Airborne but it's to boost your immune system and since you got the flu already not sure that would help. My advice for you is let the virus run it's coarse but you can go to the doctor but they can't do much. I got the flu shot though. Maybe next year you should do that. Anyways for now stay in bed, drink liquids, and eat a little.

Home made chicken soup is a wonderful cure all, especially for flu, a drop of whisky or brandy before you go to bed will help to sweat it out, though basically the best thing is to drink plenty of fluids and let it run its coarse, really hope your feeling much better soon, good luck and a happy new year.

The flu is a virus, therefore it cannot be cured in the conventioanl way. A virus invades the cells of the body, so to kill the virus you must first kill the cells infected. To do that would kill the patient. hence we cant cure colds or flu in any conventional manner. A serum or antibody has to be developed. However you coud try Honey and lemon, it wont cure it but it wll make you feel better

Ginger in hot tea is good. I had flu for three weeks just before christmas and this and ginger, lemon honey with a little sugar to sweeten in hot water was the best. I had the flu jab and got flu and eveyone on here kept telling me that I couldnt possibly get it with the jab but my doctor and the pharmacist told me that its quite common....dead virus or alive....I certainly got it!!!!

lemsip is good, but not exactly many shops open now to get any! a hot steamy bath cold clear you for a while, or stick you head over a bowl of boling water (be careful), with a towel over your head for a while to clear you out a bit! (with something like vicks in it if you have any), good luck, im full of illness too tonight!

That's your adrenalin kicking in.

Get plenty of rest, keep warn, drink plenty of fluids and try to ride out the storm. That's the only advice I could give you.

High? does what I do. Nyquil and fluids. Lots of sleep, let your body take care of itself. It knows what it needs to do. Feed it and drink alot and sleep. Nyquil is for the sleep. Works great. At least for me.
