We live in the San Francisco Bay area. Any ideas for a trip within 2 hour flight?

Depends on what you like doing. Las Vegas is always a good choice if you're into gambling or even just to check out the sites. (I plan on going for 30th b-day mostly for the Star Trek Experience at the Hilton)
Another idea is just to find a hotel near by and play tourist. From what i remember the San Francisco area has a lot of attractions in and or around it. It can be a fairly inexpensive way to go out and have some fun, and maybe even find stuff you didn't know about.

My brother-in-law lived in Phoenix so when we visited him we drove to Sedona--I loved it there!! It has a mystical reputation--sort of new-agey and at the same time it is in a gorgeous natural setting...red rocks and mountains...against a blue blue sky--really good energy..I wish we had spent more time there--it is also pretty warm there right now--and it is not such a huge place--you can do some hiking and shopping and just mellow out--there is not tons to do though--so this is more of a relaxing trip--unless you hike like crazy!
