I would distance yourself from her, she obviosuly does not consider you as close a friend as you do her, otherwise she would not be lying to you and flying off the handle.

You could try talking to her but from what you have said this will would have little affect as she would fly off the handle.

I think you should have a good talk with her. You mentioned that she had been lying to you. Does she know that you are aware of this? If no, tell her and ask her why she is doing this. For all you know, she might have been lying because she was worried that all the truth was going to affect the friendship between the both of you. Or perhaps, there has been another reason for that. If you really treat her as a good friend, I think you'll bring yourself to forgive her on the condition that she never lies again. About her temper problem, talk to her about it too. Or if she still "flips out like a physo" like what you said, you might want to write to her instead. Sometimes, words can be expressed more at ease. Tell her that you do not like her reactions and behaviour and that if she doesn't change, your friendship might break. Tell her these stuff gently and give her some time to change. All the best!

i have a cousin like that which is harder, bcos shes actually blood. Although she hasnt explicitly told me she lied to me, its something i found out. So whenever she talks about certain topics with me i know when shes lying to me. I felt i needed space from her so i just stopped contacting her for a while and told her i was busy. Sometimes its the only way, for you to keep your friendship by being distant for a while. Don't tell her you want space, just carry it out urself, and say ur busy if she asks.

sounds to me like you have one jealous, needy friend there. Get rid, don't let them hold you back from doing what you want to do.
