The goals of foundation are to protect the skin from environmental damage and to even out skin tone. And the right shade can make the skin look smooth and flawless — exactly what women want.

The correct shade should literally disappear into the skin and blend with the skin tone of the neck rather than the face. Also, when trying a new shade, it is best to test it in natural light. Here are a few things to keep in mind while you’re testing:
• Be sure to adapt your foundation shades to fit seasonal changes in skin tone (a lighter shade during the winter and a darker shade during the summer).
• The formula and coverage should be based on personal preferences.
Tips:
• When you try a new shade of foundation to wait a few minutes before making a decision, as the foundation needs to adapt to
their skin.
• Remember to that you need to blend the foundation into your
skin to get a true idea of how the shade will look. The color straight out of the tube is not always a good indicator of how it will look with their skin tone.
• Yellow-based foundations work well on almost everyone. Foundations with a little yellow will even out almost every complexion. Yellow minimizes red, which may be inherent in skin’s coloring as a result of tanning, aging or brokrn capilaries.

Aloette makes an amazing powdered foundation. I know, powder sounds crazy, but it is all-natural, mineral-based and it is actually good for your skin. The coverage is sheer enough that you don't feel it on your skin but it covers any and all flaws. Aloette also makes a creme-to-powder foundation and a liquid foundation, but the powder is the best. You can order it through the Aloette website Aloette.com or through a consulant (you'll get a better deal through a consultant). The price isn't bad: it's under $20 for all three.

I really like the Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse foundation. It comes in many, many shades so you can get the perfect match, and it stays on all day in everyday activities. It's not too expensive, only about $5-6 I believe and is very smooth on the skin (hence the word 'mousse'). Good luck finding a good one! and Merry Christmas!

I like the new Mabelline Matte foundation. It comes in a round small glass container. It goes on very smoothly and blends really well. I suggest buying it at CVS or a similar drugstore that allows you to return open makeup you don't like.

Drugstore make-up is not your best choice honey! Depending on your skin you may want to try even a tinted moisturizer. If you just want to smooth out your skin, a tinted moisturizer is a great option. It's light and feels light on your skin too. I don't know about the drugstore brands, but NARS (Sephora, Victoria's Secret etc.) has a really good one. Their foundations are amazing too.

I've been using Bare Escentuals i.d. bareMinerals for years and won't use anything else. It is very light. It looks like I'm not wearing any makeup at all. I buy it for around $20-25 at the store. You can also buy it at Sephora and Planet Beauty. Also at many places online.

cheap- Revlon Color Stay is great. Expensive - Dior Lift is good too. Both are liquid & give even coverage without looking pasty.
