need help....microsoft xp professional?

i use dell inspiration 1150 with dvd+RW....my dvd batter won't work. i just brought new battery and stilll not working.....i have to always stay connect to powerline in order to use the computer. i don't see any problem with dvd device and it's not work. i updated the computer from microsoft website and still having same problem....can someone tell me how to fix these problem...battery and dvd device...thnx in a advace

alright sounds like you might be having problems that you might not have noticed. if you must have the computer plugged in to actully use it, even with a new battery , that means your battery is still bad have it checked. now can you get the computer to turn on while pluggeed in because you might just have a bad powercord wich in turn isnt charging the battery. now aside from all that mess on to your dvd drive. check in computer management if the drive is working on a signed driver. xp has this thing about drivers that arnt xp regestered wont even use the driver (its a pain for older accesseries). if all else fails you can roll back the driver for the dvd drive. or get on the internet and find one thats xp compatable.
