There are lots of criminals, with guns, that we need to protect ourselves from. This is the reason that I own a gun. It was also requested of us by our founding fathers. That is why they created the second amendment. If no one had guns back then there would have been no revolution. I feel that we are very fortunate right now that we have a great government that, for the most part, works for the people. However, if all of the people were defenseless then it would be very easy for someone to step up and take over without the fear of revolution. "From my cold dead hands."

that's because United States ain't united and speaking for every one you have got to understand that, if you don't why should you be a part of life. People need guns because they can't protect thierself with eveything that come their way everytime, polices ain't always be their to protect every thing that come your way and some people just like volience. We don't REQUIRE firearms.. We have the RIGHT to BEAR THEM.. I would like to quote a ubiquitous cliche.. "If guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns." ... This is a serious statement and would be a serious security issue, due to the "open borders" between the US, Mexico and Canada..
Being in a land-locked nation would make it more plausible to have strict gun laws...

"United We Stand", 99.9% of the time we do not get robbed when we are standing, therefore durring that period we are no longer untied with the criminals and thus, we need a big gun or 50, whichever makes us feel better.

We don't need the guns to protect us from our neighbors. They're nice enough people.
Its the government that we need to protect ourselves from. EVERY unchecked government will become corrupt and force it's people into bondage.
