If they read more, they would probably realise that the correct question would be: when people read FEWER books.

You are welcome!

Hey, Pearl, I’m with you any time.
So far I have read e.g. all the Harry Potter books to my children, word by word.

A possible breakdown of grammar and syntax is looming. Spelling was always an issue.

I have been downloading e-books, as well as, audio books. the educational possiblities are unlimited. Its just getting reading material that can hold the reader's attention longer than a comic book.

One theory is that the brain will develope to a new level, just to keep up with the streams of data coming at us from everywhere. The ability to access and manipulate information will crete a generation of geniuses. (Seen the national test scores lately?)

Another theory is that the computer will be a glorified encyclopedia, and take over the functions of thought causing the human mind to decrease in use leaving a sub-culture of techs and engineers to keep things going while the lesser minds are relegated to a drone-like workforce. Sort of like the middle ages when educating the masses was illegal. ah...good times

I'm from the old school where I think kids should get off of the computer and go outside and play. I think a child should not be allowed to play on any computerized game until homework is done and done right. NOTHING can replace reading to a child. By the way I have worked at a school for 22 years and I have seen what has happened to kids that are not exposed to reading. Please turn off everything and have a time to read to your kids and let them read to you.
