Johnny formed Public Image Limited after the Sex Pistols and then did solo music after that. My question is why did he change his music style so much when he was in PIL and solo? The music he did is alright but nothing in comparison to the Pistols.

I think his style changed because the musical landscape was changing at that point and, rather than fall behind, he tried to update his sound. Also, he was working with a higher quality of musician in PIL and on his own.

he was the only good thing about the sex pistols and he just did his own thing after i think--but a couple things he did with the pistols definately rocked
