I have an existing well pump system, but i wanted to find out if i can add a drip system, or i would have to it off the city water.

Yes you can add it. However, minerals in the well water would quickly clog up the holes in the irrigation lines.

A filter system should be added between the well water line and the irrigation lines. Filter maintenance is mandatory. You can get the data you need from your State's Department of Agriculture. Presumably, you are in the USA. Good Luck and GREAT Gardening.

No problem-absolutely! Not knowing more details like where you live and type of well, shallow or deep, G.P.M, size of holding tank, or the quality of water (minerals, sediment, ph etc.) a filter installed before the outgoing line is a good idea.
We put in our well system 12 years ago, everything except drilling the hole and decided to add a filter (canister-type) to the line before water entered the holding tank (bladder-type) and also a filter in-line (also canister type) to line leading to outdoor faucets, our greenhouse and garage. We also decided and are very glad we did, installed separate shut-off valves before the filter in each line in the well-house, where water could be turned off (freezing temps) without disrupting our entire water supply. Sure did make life easier to make repairs, add another faucet or change filter cartridge later. Outside, where any pipe made a tee, we also put in the ground, separate shut-offs for each line of the tee, these being smaller than the main ones at well-house. When problems pop up they are notorious for picking after hours, Sundays or holidays, or the local hardware store is out of stock only of what you need, or in our case an hour drive to find out they don't have what you needed. This has been a real headache prevention decision I highly recommend.

It mostly depends on how big the pump is and how big the irrigation is.
