and Bush isn't paying it back, mostly your tax dollars are subsidizing interest. So the debt to give the rich tax breaks is being paid by the poor and working class who didn't get them.

Edit: its $30,000 per person in this country

According the the Treasury's 2006 Report, the total federal obligation is upwards of $54.6 TRILLION. It's more than doubled since 2000. Next time you're poking around the Federal Reserve website, try shooting off an email to someone and ask why they're not releasing the M3 anymore. M3 is the amount of paper money our government is printing..wonder why they don't want us to know how many trillions and trillions they're making and where they're going.

The national debt is in the TRILLIONS. No one is paying it back; ask George where we're supposed to come up with the money. And while we're at it, lets try to find out where the surplus monies that were there when he took over office when to.

I don't know what the debt is but I do know that all the income tax illegally collected off its citizens just pays the interest on it. Americans do not need to pay income tax as the 16th amendment was never ratified, to pay it is a voluntary action, not a compultion.

well considering that the English never paid us for the 50 destroyers in WW2 I think with interest we should be about even what do you think lets see now if we take the base sum and compound it quarterly at a rate of even 5% hhhhuuuummmmm !

I think the debt is about 3 billoin at the moment the goverment i think is refusing to pay claiming they dont have tht type of money

We have paid it all up. Gordon (Bless) paid all we owe. Not a penny less! Sod them. What we owe them that is, What they owe China and Iran is a different story. Thats why they are trying to freeze Iran's assets. Thieving lot.
