For those of you who have answered and those who havent, I have just graduated as a primary teacher, which someone also mentioned, and I feel that this may be my avenue to changing people's lives. Small I know, but I think teacher's can have a big impact in children's lives.

Something I read about the other day touched on this topic. It's called "Subjective Reality", which basically is a belief system in which there is only one consciousness, you are that singular consciousness, and everything and everyone in your reality is a projection of your thoughts. There's also "The law of Attraction" theory, which simply says that you attract into your life whatever you think about. I don't full heartedly belief this "Self-help" crap but I do believe that if you go throughout your days thinking "I am meant to do something extraordinary" than you will be more likely to do that extraordinary thing. Personally I could settle with being ordinary, but most would perceive me as a waste of life, which is how I perceive most, so it works out.

What exactly do you mean by unnatural? Are you speaking of murder and/or suicide? Perhaps mercy killing (when someone is in such pain that they ask a friend or doctor to just let them die)? As for philosophy there are many theories about death. Not like someone else posted "in philosophy it is the will of god" whoever wrote that maybe doesn't know what philosophy is. That's more of a religious view of death. Anyway many philosophers have written in great detail about death. For example, Heidegger saw death as the completion of life. Think of it like a movie. A movie has a beginning and end. Life is the same. And death is the completion of a persons life. If someone where to not die then they would never be complete, according to some philosophical theories. I suggest reading some philosophy from the french and germans between the 17th and 20th centuries. A few that deal with the topic of death in particular are Heidegger, Sartre, Camus, Nietzsche and many of their contemporaries. Two books I would recommend in particular are Being and Time by Martin Heidegger and Being and Nothingness by Sartre. The former is especially a must read for someone who is interested in the topic of death.

I think everyone has that feeling... I wondered if I was going to give birth to the next Jesus Christ, thought I'd been bought earth to bring peace to mankind and truly believed aliens were going to contact me before anyone else.... before I was 8. Even now, I've made a few very high profile moves in my adult life that I have to wonder what the greater consequences will be. I think most of all (like a large majority of tortured souls) I have this feeling that I am meant to write a book which will change lives. It's that feeling that 'there has to be something'... right?

Yes I do and I have done just exactly that. Very quick background.
I was raised in a family where my mom allowed my sister who is three years younger to have boyfriends when she was only 11, and when she was 11 she was allowed to have a 16 yr old boyfriend and I was allowed to have none. Prior to my first date, which was arranged by my cousin - she literally had to make a deal with my mom saying that she should would take full responsibility when not if , but when I seduced the guy. The one person who knew, because of what she was doing to me, that I wasn't having sex was my mom. Then there came a time where my mom and sister literally gained up on me - cut me down to shredds - more to the point my sister literally took my personal life and ripped me to shredds with it - same thing as being strapped to a post and your soul is being torn out, mutilated and shoved unceremoniously back down your throat and the blame is put on you, and when you ask why, you are told all they want to do is to help you. That being said and taking it from the scenario of my soul being mutilated - I married a man I barely knew - in ending we've been married for 22 yrs now and are very much in love.

Hello =)
I think that many of us ARE meant to do extraordinary things....
It's just that in this modern world, where individual thinking, and personal achievement is discouraged, we are not given the opportunity.
Let's face it, we are herded into colleges, forced into pidgeon-holes by our education, and there we are encouraged to stay. The great thinkers are discouraged throughout the entire process, from the 4th grade on up.
We choose "mediocrity" over the extraordinary in almost every decision we make, on a daily basis.
Such is the joy of western society.
Namaste, and Happy Holidays....

ever since i was a little girl i thought i was meant to do something great here. and every year i fall so far short of extraordinary that i lapse deeper into depression.
but who knows...my depression may cause some sort of epiphany and i still might do something really great.
until them i am sitting in the wings waiting for my day to come.

When I was in the second grade I felt there must be a reason for my emotional pain and God was preparing me to lead the world someday.
What God was actually teaching me is that my mind can become very creative when I am under duress.

Yes- the thing is this world is called Maya(illusion) and is temporary and full of misery. We are not these bodies, we are spirit soul, part and parcel of the Supreme Soul, Also known as Krishna, Allah, Jehovah, Vishnu, etc. We all have a purpose to reconnect to He whom which is seated in the core of our heart trying to communicate to us, but we are not listening. Our consciousness is covered by veils of illusion. If you are interested in the purpose of human life and all the answers important. Go to krishnaculture. for complete details. Then we can actually do something extraordinary. Otherwise it is all phantasmagoria.
