Triangular numbers!

Don't think it has a name - it's the sum of the numbers from 1 to n.
(You'd generally use sigma notation for this with an n at the top and 1 at the bottom).
Are you sure you didn't mean 1*2*3*4... which is called n factorial?

I thought it was called an arithmetic series, which is the sum of an arithmetic progression. An arithmetic progression is generated by stating the first term, the common difference and the number of terms. In this case, the first term is 1 and the common difference is 1. The ellipsis (...) indicates that the series may be infinite. Thus, to get the second term (2), you add the common difference (1) to the first term (1). And to get the third term (3), you add the common difference (1) to the second term (2). And so on.

These numbers as written can be used in two ways. Natural counting numbers or as triangular numbers. It all depends in which context you are using them

Its the sum of natural numbers, it equals n(n+1)/2 for all integers n.

The numbers are the natural number sequence but I don't know the name for their summation... unless its summation of the natural numbers???
