There are great deals on Dell computers almost anytime of the year but be careful with coupons. Some are specific which means that they are only good for specific models or merchandise. Coupons often have expire dates as well. Some Dell coupons are stack-able meaning that more than one can be used. Do your coupon homework after you have decided which model Dell you like the best. Dell does not sell two month old computers for $200 at any time so don't worry about that.

If you're buying a better machine, not the entry level "special" that's been out for a while, then now would be as good as time as any. The system prices have about bottomed out... in other words, unless you have to get the latest and greatest of everything, get the best value you can now... the prices won't come down, just the features may come up a little in the $500 systems.

Dell is very cheap, so don't get one from them. I recommend the following brands:

Gateway
Sony
HP

By the way, wait till Vista comes out (Jan 30, 2007).

If you still want a Dell, wait about 30 years, or until they get more reasonable.

When should you buy a Dell??? Later, MUCH later, like when you are about 108 yrs old. Maybe Dell will have something going for them by then. Now is not the time.

There will never be a time when computers won't be better and cheaper in a few months. Might as well buy now.
