Clearing the clutter is a great first step. The easiest way to do that is to take EVERYTHING out of your room and only bring back in 50% of the stuff. 75% of people in North America have 64% too much stuff....
Give away what you don't wear and haven't worn in over 6 months. Throw away anything that needs to be ditched.
Keep what only really pleases you to look at and makes you happy to have. You will feel much better.
Once you've decided what you're keeping, place it all where it belongs. Invest in some really nice baskets to keep your stuff in and you'll find the room looks even better. Take advantage of under-the-bed storage... There are some great rubbermaid bins for under the bed and they are relatively inexpensive at WalMart and Target.
The secret to keeping the room clean is to promise yourself to put stuff away RIGHT AWAY. Hang up stuff instead of draping it on a chair or desk, place your clothes in your drawers and get yourself a really nice laundry basket (not the plastic kind) so you can put your dirty laundry in it when you remove it. Make your bed as soon as you get up. Nothing makes a room look messier than an unmade bed.
Try and make whatever storage bins you buy matching ones. This will go a long way towards making the room come together.
The only other thing I can suggest right now is to reward yourself when you do what you should. And only tackle one item at a time so you don't get discouraged. Come on.... get off the puter and get going... you can do it....

I had the same problem with my whole house keeping it clean, I find if you do 15 mins a day in your room to start to get it clean and find what you need to keep and what you can part with is great. Once I did my 15 mins per day in each room and got my house back to clean, I kept up the 15 mins a day for each room I found that It took me less time to clean the rooms and they remain clean. there are some fantastic groups on yahoo for cleaning...they can support you but I find the 15 mins a day is a great start for anyone and once you get into that routine you will be suprised by what you end up doing.
I have included the email address of the groups that have helped me the most email them to ask to join and you can go from there or you can do a search in groups type in home organization or cleaning and it will come up with a list!
Good Luck with it all!

Do you have enough storage room in the dresser and on the shelves? If so, get off your bum and organize, ya slug! If not, buy some bins or something and get off your bum and organize!
Once you have everything organized, it's easy: Everything has a place. You take it out, you put it back. My 4 year old grasped the concept, so I'm sure that you can too.
Good luck!

Usually rooms gets messy because you have too much stuff, and you have no easy place to put it. Get rid of the clutter. Anything left should have a place of it's own. The less you have in the room, the less time you'll take cleaning it.

It seams to me that it is not the room that needs to be cleaned and organized but your way of doing things in the room. So, get yourself organized, get your room cleaned and organized and try to keep it that way! And don't look for or make any excuses.

First, clean it all up. Second, take a photo of it and hang it on the wall. Third, make sure the room looks exactly like the photo, every single day.

Have a hamper or clothes basket to put your dirty clothes in. Make it a point to put them in there when you take your clothes off. When you are finished with a drink, immediatly throw the can away or bring the cup to the kitchen sink. Plain and simple, if you take something out, put it away when you a done with it.
