Totally agree with you - it is truly awful and without any merit.

The Answerers who mentioned such classics as Round the Horn, Fawlty Towers, Morecambe and Wise, and similar well written and performed shows, are absolutely right. And it isn't a generation issue, either - it's more of a 'Is it amusing and do I laugh at it?' matter. Little Britain meets neither of these criteria except, presumably, amongst the oddballs who run the BBC 'comedy department' these days.

Anyway, let's hope a few BBC big whigs read Yahoo Answers and see the overall response to your question - then maybe, with luck, they'll take another look at the moronic show and remove it from future schedules. But don't hold your breath. Real talent would cost them money!

PS There is obviously at least one fan of the show on Yahoo Answers tonight, because you'll notice that all the 'anti Little Britain' replies have been given a 'thumbs down'. I expect this answer will receive one shortly!

I'm getting old.

I used to think comedy was about wit and invention, parody and irony. A classic example of this was the radio show 'Round the Horne'. Thank heaven BBC7 repeats the shows. They showed some Morcambe & Wise on the TV the other night, they were CLASS. 'Allo 'Allo repeats still make me laugh, wonderful stuff. The superb 'I'm Sorry I haven't a Clue' is still on, the only current radio programme of any merit whatsoever.

Katharine Tate can't act for toffee, Little Britain is an emetic. Have you seen the antics of the people on 'Never mind the Buzzcocks'? Almost embarrassing.

So true, I've just left my family sitting room cos my brother wanted to watch Little bleeding Britain. It redefines sh!t. We all thought that we knew what sh!t was until Little Britain came along and showed us what t really meant. Neither of them guys are funny, I remember a few years back on chanel 4's Priory show (yeah that was even worse!) before Little Britain when them two plonkers tried to do the blokes out of Hearsay. It was one of the most painful bits of TV I have ever seen, and frankly bordered on being plain racism. Its comedy (only loosely defined) for complete idiots. And Catherine bleeding Tate can bog off an all. Here's a tip for people trying to make comedy; try being funny instead of coming up with blawdy annoying catchphrases.

I remember the political controversy now. IMO it grew to become into via way of very final couple of shows. I referred to them. The comedy went rather lots overboard and it grew to become into basically damaging assertion. no longer that I minded, besides the undemanding certainty that it have been given no longer humorous. i think of of that they had desperate that they could do it that thank you to any volume extra suitable and that does no longer paintings o.ok.. They rather lots mandatory a communique teach for that. i think of we weren't too used to that format the two, particularly in case you had expected comedy. My ingredient is that i do no longer think of of it grew to become into plenty approximately what that they had finished up till at last then. I tickled rather some us. And on the on the spot, I propose, in case you even ingredient out faith on the on the spot, have you ever referred to how propose human beings can get? Why is that, bigbopper, scratch, scratch?

I agree with you, compared to classics like Fawlty Towers, Yes Minister or Father Ted it's total rubbish. It's not even original either, The Fast Show and others did the same thing long before them, and much better.

i know what you mean. its rather repetitive and the sketches get more and more boring because you watch the same characters played time and time again. you know what you're going to expect on this show. so much so the more you watch, well for us, the gags get very boring. it was good when it first came out, but with shows such as this, the more popular it gets and more likely its not going to change its formula, the sooner it loses its appeal. i hardly watch little britain anymore
