this is a pretty simple task, you just need to install the bt software into the 2nd laptop the same as the 1st time
at the start of the installation be sure to confirm the type of connection(wired, wireless) and the type of connector(u.s.b, ethernet)
after this just enter your details and the w.e.p key(you will find this on the back of the hub in the grey box),and after that you should be able to use that laptop for the internet
you can add up to 10 devices( although i recommend 4 to 5) to the home hub,i currently run 2 x wired p.c,s and 1 x wireless laptop and suffer no connection problems
from personal experience certain laptops use w.p a security instead of w.e.p (wireless encryption protocol) for wireless security,if this is the case go to the "hub manager" and then to the advanced section and then "continue to advanced",in the dialog box type "admin" as the user name and password, then go to home network and devices, then were it says "wlan bt home hub"click this and when the next screen appears click the configure option at the top,and this will take you to the security page and if you scroll to the bottom of the page you will see the w.e.p key,if you need to change this simply delete the existing key and add a new one(it must be 1 letter followed by nine numbers, then apply and then go to home by going back to the top of the page and clicking home
if you need to change to w.p.a encryption simply do the above again but tick the w.p.a box instead of the w.e.p box and then click apply
also if your hub begins to suffer connection problems, such as slower download speeds turn off the hub and leave for 30 seconds to a minute and then turn back on,then press the wireless association button on the back of the hub for 15 to 20 seconds and then release, the lights will slowly re-appear over 2 minutes, and you will then notice much improved connection speeds
any more bt home hub problems just let me know and i will be glad to help
good luck and happy xmas

You may need to check out the cat 5 cable that you are using, it could have a broken link, the port in the hub may have the problem, the NIC in the computer might be the problem, make sure that you see a light in the back of both computers where the NIC has the CAT 5 cable plugged in.. or whatever you are using to connect with.

im guessing you have wireless if you do then setup one laptop onto the bt hub, then do a wireless scan on the other laptop and connect to to the other laptop that way it will still work and you wont be getting the difficulties your getting.

If it has a unfastened ethernet port on the returned, get an ethernet cable. connect one end to a unfastened ethernet port on the returned of the hub the connect the different end to the laptop. in case you desire to connect wirelessly, you're able to desire a instantaneous card put in in the laptop. If it did no longer contain one you're able to purchase and deploy one. They sell them at any workplace furnish or laptop shop.

Use the Microsoft Zero One connection protocol, if you have the WEP settings enabled, remember to enter in the details, if you need to access your Hub's settings, type in the following into your URL bar: 10.0.0.1.138

If you need to change the security level, go to "change user" in the settings, and enter "admin" in both boxes, you can then disable the WEP if you wish, and configure access from there, as well as change the user-level of the default user-account.
