why can't i play the free classic version of the sims?

when i press play now, nothing happens. any clue why?

it's the online free version that doesn't appear to have to be downloaded. does anyone know any other online free games like this? the only ones i can find are very cartoony and childish. i found one called secret something but it wasn't great

It could be that theres something wrong with the disc or your computer.
If this is your first time installing it, you may want to try again. But if you don't want to, then check the instructions.
