Sounds like it could possibly be a problem with the alternator. I had a similar experiance and that was the problem with mine.

well i cant tell you what the loud noise is without hearing it, the ideling deal sounds like something is wrong with the carberetor, if im not mistaken its carbereted, it could be an early for of fuel injection, at any rate that sounds like whats wrong there, if your battery is dead its pretty easy to tell, turn the lights on and see if you get anything, you should be able to tell by how dim they are, if it wont do anything when you try to start it that is, if you dont get anything i would get a voltage tester, thats the way to go anyway, but for just a quick test try the lights, now as for the radio it sounds like a short, or it could be a hot wire from the radio under the brake pedal and when you depress it, it grounds it out, check and see if there are any wires running from the center dash where the radio is to the fuse box, a lot of people hook there radio up to the fuse box, and there is nothing wrong with that if its a free fuse, like nothing running off of it, but if it has something running off of it then it could cause all kinds of problems, and you may have alternator problems, i know it sounds like a lot but when you get into electronics, its not anyway i hope it helps

sounds like a bad short out on one of the main lines..check ALL of your wiring for wear spots that could cause a ground out.
