Sometimes it is because they are having a disagreement with their college; sometimes it is because they feel their high school coach was a very big influence on their success and they want to salute the school.

I know of no professional football players that came directly out of high school. There have been players that did not attend college, but they have played semi-pro or minor league football first, before the NFL.

A lot of times players are estranged from their former college. for example Simeon Rice's coaches at Illinois called his character into question before the draft. So since they don't want to give the University publicity, they give their high school some run

Some player are recruited from college others never graduated from college and then you might hear the announcer say that the player graduated from the "school of hard-knocks". That's a slang to say they never made it to college at all.

I'm assuming these players were recruited directly from high school and did not attend college.

They either didn't like the college the went to, or just want to fool around.

Laverneus Coles will never mention Florida State, because they treated him like crap there.

The ones who name their high schools never went to college, therefore they have no college affilliation.

Because they probably didn't go to college or they are more proud of their hometown school
