I would love to talk to you one on one about caring for rats at spazrats@yahoo.ca
There are so many websites and forums I could recommend I couldn't possibly list them all here.
Here's a few:
http://spazrats.tripod.com
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/holistarat
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ratlist
http://health.ratzrus.co.uk/care/food.htm
http://www.ratsrule.com/
http://www.boardmanweb.com/rattery/ratcare.htm
http://www.dapper.com.au/
And so many more.
Thank you Kiffie. Fancy Rats UK is indeed on my list of great websites.

Don't go to a website!Listen to me!
I raised pet rats & even though they are sweet & faithful, for God's sake!Don't ever let them mix sexes or get out of their cage unless you are handling them!
I had so many rats that I didn't even have to use covers at night! They all piled on me & slept!
On top of that, they ate through every wire in my stereo!
Did you know they are carniverous too?My bird paid the price with her brains!
This happened because i didn't pay attention to how smart Samantha was becomming & she learned to open her cage.
She opened my birdcage & grabbed my bird by the head & literally chewed her brains out!
Then she wanted to come love up to me!
I gave them all away to a pet shop!

I love www.dapper.com.au
It has photos, guides, suggestions, and some cute things to read. You can also buy things for your rats to play with and sleep in.
I haven't been there in a while, though...

last night on the animal planet station i saw giant african rats that were trained to detect land mines, they were as big as house cats, they were so smart and well trained too, the handlers loved them and spoiled them with treats for working well
