My cousin just bought one.. but i don't see why he would need it. He already had a Walkman style Mp3 cd/CD player and he has TV, and a small boombox. I keep seeing people with ipods, as they walk and go around town. I would never carry one, cause i can just wait for when i get home. Are people just desperate and can't be lonely for a while? Seems they yfeel lonely when they are not using any electronic gadgets.

As for me, i dont' even use my car stereo ever, never turn it on. But i can see people seem to use Ipods or Mp3 players and all that just so that they won't feel lonely. And they may have Computers and Boomboxes, cd players, etc at home already. I feel an ipod is quite useless if you already have something else at home.

My iPod is the second best thing I ever bought (the first being my laptop) a CD player is no comparision. And as people have been carrying audio devices around for about three decades now, (the MP3 player is simply the most up to date version of this) I don't see how it can count as a fad. However if you don't want one, then don't buy one, it's that simple.

Okay, that's your personal opinion, other people enjoy music with them always. Some people may be doing it because it is a fad, but others aren't. Also, on an iPod/mp3 player, you don't need to keep on changing cds, you can just have all your music together, so it is even practical at home. Example, I'm at home, and I'm listening to my iPod...

some ppl dont have that stuff at home, and if they do the ipod compliments it well. 100s of cd, when u can have just one ipod. u cant take u car stereo into ur house. i have an ipod, i wanted it cause i was tired of my cd player. ipods are just more convenient. would u be opposed to someone walking around with a cd player; ipods are small and hold alot of music. just convenient.

Well, an iPod is portable, you can't take your boom box or your tv outside with you...or well it's not really recommended...

Maybe the iPod holds more music than his original MP3 player. I am outside a lot and I depend on public transportation because I live in New York City. I listen to my iPod on my way to school, work, home and when I'm shopping. I never even asked for one and I got two around my birthday last year.

Yes some people are buying ipods/mp3 players just because its a fad and people are desperate to be popular and get attention because in some schools if u don't have an iPod u r not popular so thats the reason people are so desperate for iPods becuz of popularity i don't think they are so desperate to hear music its all becuz of popularity

I didn't buy one until I needed it to listen to law school review lectures. Yes, boys and girls, your Uncle Bill is a real party animal.

Judging from the stupid questions I'm seeing on here ("How do I get music loaded on my iPod?" "Tell me some good songs I should put on my iPod?") it seems like people want it to be cool and now they're trying to find a use for it.

Nope. Don't even know what they are. So I guess I have no use for them.
