We have large sliding glass doors in the back of the house and 1 window in the front bedroom. When the wind is coming into the bedroom window (usually at a high rate) & it starts to rain, it gets the desk in front of the window pretty wet. Is there any device that would warn us if it starts to blow the rain into the house through the window? Something that beeps or sounds an alarm of some type?

Thank you

Check testproducts.com They advertise one. Just enter
water alarm in the yahoo search window, lots of stuff pops up, that is what I did after reading your question. There are lots of different types and of course lots of different costs. If you know a gadget maker, you can use a common pin and an aspirin to make one, pretty easy.

There are lots of commercial products that do this. Here you will find many of them:

This one looks about right:

Of course, as others have noted, if you aren't there an alarm won't help. If it's a casement or awning window you might be able to find a power operator with a rain sensor for it .

A rain detector can be made up for as little as $5. There are many circuts on the internet. If you know someone with electronics knowledge they can soon put one together for you. I would do it but I am in Australia.

You either keep the windows open or they are too old and need replacement. No warming device of that kind exists and if it would exist, it would be an extra operating expense.

Good luck

A warning device isn't going to shut the window or door for you. Why can't YOOUU tell when to shut them??
