Like your first answer, she could be cheating. Or maybe she feels that she's too old to have another baby (which I wouldn't blame her), or sometimes the doctors will put women on birth control pills to regulate their menstrual period. Have a good day.

B maybe she has blood pressure isuess Some birth controls have elements that help women... The clash of other meds make doctors use birth control instead of the stronger meds with the same herb in them

The same reason women normally go on the pill, to stop them from becoming pregnant. If a woman is still having periods, she always needs to use some kind of protection to prevent a possible unwanted pregnancy.
Another reason is if a woman is perimenopausal, the pill can help regulate hormones.

It is indeed unlikely for a woman of that age to get pregnant, but it is not impossible. The oldest woman who ever gave birth to a child was 63 years old (although this was done with the help of doctors...)

She may be having problems with heavy periods. Birth control pills help to regulate the hormones and lessen bleeding every month.

well, i'm 47, started menopause @37, and when i was 44, Dr put me on birth control for the hormones(so my head would stop doing 360's!!). but i quit 2 years ago because of the side effects(high cholesterol). probably for the hormonal benefits. red yeast rice will counter the cholesterol rise.

Birth control can help regulate hormones at any age. As long as she has consulted with a doctor, I don't see any cause for concern.

Well.....
There are a host of reasons...
To diminish the symptoms of menopause...
To minimize the negative symptoms of periods...
To minimize likelihood of osteoporosis...
To minimize risk of breast cancer.....
And of course....to minimize risk of pregnancy..... My grandmother gave birth to my mother and her identical twins (10 lbs each) at 48, but the risks of having a child with birth defects at that age is high, so if she is sexually active with her husband, her doctor might suggest birth control at that age, to minimize the risk of pregnancy, to avoid the possibility of conceiving a child who might have birth defects.....
Namaste, and Happy Holidays,

I have a professor who described herself as the "oops, you can get pregnant on menopause" baby. Possibly just doesn't want to be driving her kid to kindergarten at 54.
