there is a sort of cream coloured liquid at the side of the cage - is that sick?

there has been food available all today and they have been eating all day and they both keep shaking crazily as if to hake something off the like a dog does.

It's just thier pee. It can range from a cream color to a yellowish color. If it dries and feels gritty, you want to cut down on the calcium rich veggies. That's a sign of bladder sludge. What bedding are you using? Be sure you have enough so it gets absorbed.

The shaking sounds like popcorning. Are the jumping in the air and look like they are having little seizures? That's popcorning and they do it when they're so happy they can't contain it. lol

To rachel: Fleas are actually very uncommon in pigs. If they have them, it's from another pet in the house. Mites are however very common. If they're scratching excessively or have bald spots, treat them with Ivermectin. Do NOT buy a treatment from a pet shop, they are many times very harmful and inaffective.

Um if it's a female it could be in heat, or if its male or female maybe its leaving it's scent. And a cavy is a guinea pig for the person who asked.
Try some websites like:
cavymadness.com
cavycages.com
they might have some info if thats not what it is, also if you are that worried I'd call up a vet (specfic in the small animal feild of course).
Hope you're piggies are ok.

No they dont sound sick. absolutely fine! The white stuff if their pee...calcium build up...its normal..just be sure to clean it up...soak their pan in vineger and scrub it off...besure to get all the vinegar off the cage.

The shaking can be popcorning...or they are just really excited!
My piggles do that when they get excited or are playing. Though I would check for fleas. Fleas are common for cavies... just to be safe...i would invest in small animal deflea...you usually can find it at Petsmart, Care A lot and other petshops.

Good Luck!

My guinea pig did once that and it was milk from her nipples because she was pregnant, but in your case, you better ask a vet. good luck!
