well this may not be the best advice but i will tell you what my husband and i did. i was at 40 and 5 days when my mother inlaw got fed up with waiting and told me that if i did not go into labor that night, she was going home the next morning. well mark and i decided that he needed a little help. so we tried to have sex. worked like a charm. my water broke immediatly, and my husband all but race to the hospital. the only side effect was that my husband was sexualy frustrated for a while till i could take care of it. doesnt work for every one but it worked for me. good luck and congrats.

Have you considered induction?? Most doctors will give you the option to induce as early as 39 weeks...especially if you are REALLY uncomfortable. If you don't want to do things that way...then maybe at your next doctor appt. you could ask the doc to scrape away the membranes and do a rough pelvic exam. I did that with my first at 40 weeks 6 days. I went into labor 10 hours after the appointment.
With my second, I was induced with pitocin at 40 weeks 3 days because I was so miserable!
The labor and birth went just fine! :)
Consider it.
Good luck and Congratulations!

Your body will not let labor start if you are to uptight. It's the only thing you can do. Take a warm bath, turn off the lights, light some candles or some incense, listen to some EZ listening music (probably Christmas carols at this time) Or watch a movie but nothing to intense, something that doesn't really grab your attention.
I know it's easier said then done, but you have to.
I carried one of my boys to 43 weeks before they induced me so I truly know where you are coming from.

believe me my pregnanacy was awful and exhausting, i was on bed rest, for so long and just generally ill. Take a lot of showers or baths, try to take naps and get some nice smelling oils and jsut sit in the tub, take 5 baths a day if that is what you need to do. i found it very relaxing, and peacefull
