EXCELLENT QUESTION...!!!

I have long thought it would be better if we simply 'socialized' education all the way up to a Master Degree if necessary.

Imagine the cultural, social, ethnic, and gender barriers that would disappear.... you would begin to see a true rise in the nations general education levels since we have people that have the 'smarts'... but lack something else thereby preventing them from reaching their true potential.

How many potential Einsteins and Aristotles have ended up stuck after High School because for some reason they were not able to afford to continue on?

The athletic scholarship is fine, but I wonder what the percentages of athletic to academic scholarships are.

If we had everyones education paid for up to the level they were academically capable of going.....I know we'd see a HUGE difference in even just the short run.

The money spent on sending kids to college would be available for so much more, even if that meant higher taxes ... it would not be appreciably so.
