Portable Document Format (PDF) is an open file format created and controlled by Adobe Systems, for representing two-dimensional documents in a device independent and resolution independent fixed-layout document format.
You create a PDF file using most word processors.

You would need to purchase adobe acrobat but I cant possibly see why you would want it! Acro files are simply images of files made by scanning documents! For instance: scanning a text document with adobe turns it into an image file not unlike a jpeg! The original text file would be far smaller than the acro file because the acro file converts the blank space in a document into data!
I.E. you could convert a 1 kb file easily into 2 megabytes by doing this! What would be the advantage?
