be straight forward, tell her in person that you can't see her anymore and that you are gay. But be sure to tell her she is 'nice' and that you want to be BFF's then don't call her anymore

Well, if you want to dump her, hurt for both of you is inevitable.
It sounds like your love for her isn't enough; A clean break might be best. Be honest with her.

let her know how you feel... be brutally honest, and let her know that you are true to her, and that if she can't be that then there is no reason to continue a relationship...
