I like to read stuff about all kinds of paranormal things, but I don't believe in them. There was a sighting, I forget how long ago, were a circus had a mermaid skellington as an attraction. Scientists studied it, but couldn't really explain it. Though they figured it was some type of fusion, so you never really know. Could be, but I personally don't believe in them.
Also, they're just legends from sailors. They would use mermaids as an excuse as to why they were suddenly led off course or why they crashed their ship into something. 'There beauty led them astray.'

Anything is possible! Who has been in the bottom of the ocean. Only two guys have been there, no one else has tried that since the 1950s. Temperature and pressure are tough enemies. The ocean is huge is impossible to search all of it. It might be possible that mermaids exist!!!

Possibly, but I don't think they exist on this plane anymore. Read about the Astral plane and elementals. I believe what mere maids really are are water elementals, also known as Undines. I believe that they simply left this dimension for a better, less hostile one, much as the dragons did.

Actually the mermaids of old times have been Manatees or sea cows. (this is according to scientists) I personally do not believe mermaids ever existed except in fairy tales. Maybe those who believe in evolution would differ.

everything is based on something. count Dracula, Frankenstein, werewolves are based on real events or people with screwed up fetishes. so i believe mermaids exist. don't think they are half human. maybe half fish and human like traits like arms and human like torsal. and maybe they live deep under water and can't or won't go to the surface.

Yes, but there are folded areas of the world that are repelled by ferrous metals...you can't even get close in a mostly metal or plastic or glass ship or car or diving gear, they don't open to you, so it seems like they aren't there.

it is very possible according to science. that mermaids/mermen evolved from humans or vice-versa. however, i am not a science believer, so i will continue not believing it until there is very clear proof

No.. how old are you?
There's also sightings of gods and UFOs.
If they existed, how would they procreate? They're obviously mammals...
