I would say to them, "My name is ______". If they keep on doing it, every so often I would just say my name. It happens to me sometimes. My name is Janice, but sometimes people call me Janet. I will just say, "Janice, not Janet". When you do this about three times to the same individual, it makes them feel like an idiot and eventually they do remember your name. Sometimes I won't even acknowledge they are talking to me, then I will say, "Oh, were you talking to me?" Believe me they will figure it out.

I would just smile and carry on as if it didn't matter (as it shouldn't). For example, I know several people who use a completely different name for me, and I believe that is how they see me, and just remember to answer to that name when they call me. One calls me Mike, and he doesn't know me that well, even though when he saw me I was wearing an ID badge as a Security Officer, and another I have known since High School has always called me Gary, and my name is Greg. Personally, I am happy that they remember me by my face, and if they find it more comfortable to call me by those names, then so be it.

My name is also pronounced in the wrong way. People tent to call me Marcia in stead of Mercia. I just keep on helping them on the right pro, but then again I do have a lot of patients.

I'd correct them politely EACH time they mispronounce my name. After a while they'll catch on.
