if these two are your choices, i pick Norton! if you search for the review, you will see so many people say Norton sucks, they say it will eat your ram or anything, and compare Norton to Kaspersky, most people pick Kaspersky! But i pick Norton! i am currently have Norton antivirus 10.0 installed on my PC, well maybe it does occpy alot of ram, but my performace isn't down, like right now i am typing this, i am also chattin with my friends, i still do the same thing normally, then why i have to care it occupied my rams! if one day my pc performance is down, maybe i will change to another antivirus software, but i will also increase my ram as well, when it is on sale, not expensive at all! for the power of detecting virus, i dont know, i just dont get any virus yet, and if you search for the test, yes, Kaspersky is more effective, but i just don't need that, i am not going to any dangerous website, i just talk to my msn friends, go to some basic popular webpage, do my homeworks using microsoft works, even Norton may not be effective, it is enough for me. and the reason i didn't choose Kaspersky is because i have tried it, and it is too sensitive, it always pop out something with the terrible sounds, telling me something i dont even understand, well, at this point, it is my problem, not its, but then as i said i just don't want it, i am afraid i am not deleting virus but some contents of windows or softwares. so here i just telling my experience, you should figure out yourself. o, by the way, many people are against Norton, it is true, but here is another truth---- also many people are using it and love it! ( many colleges) This is for my Home desktop, for my notebook, i am using Free verison AVG. my laptop is having less ram than my desktop, maybe then norton will affect it's performance by occupying too much ram. most of the time, i am using my desktop, latptop is just for college use, then AVG is good enough i think (so many vote goes to AVG for free anti-virus software). So, it all depends on the different situation. any anti-virus software will have their fans!

norton is a good choice, kaspersky seems to have sme flaws in it or quirks if you will from what i have seen
people say its a resource hog etc...
i perosnally havent seen that on any pc with it (checked before and after installing norton) maybe a slight boot up time added but minor. far as anything else goes not seen any slow downs
avg and vast keep hyped here alot, but also see alot of problems with it on here (people asking for help etc...)
question really is do you want to be protected or have something lke avg or avast that dont have the same protection?

norton is only more powerful in that it is an enormous program that will grind the hell out of your computer. If you look at any reviews, you'll see that expensive antivirus software is no better than the free stuff.
avast antivirus works perfectly for me, and its free. They make their money selling corporate liscences. Keep in mind that any antivirus only works in preventing infections... but if you get a virus all an antivirus program is going to do is tell you theres a problem. Viruses are always more advanced than the antivirus programs, and they can't be removed without a lot of google seraching and hard work.

Norton, Kaspersky and AVG and such are complete jokes, hence why Norton has over 60% of the market in this field.
