I lost my father(aged 53), brother (aged 33) and nephew (aged 8) at sea almost five years ago. They say time is a great healer well not for my family you see, our three Michaels' went out to fish for what (and was) their last time, they were to decommision the boat on the fifteenth February 2002. On Valentines morning they went out at 3am and did not return, their bodies were retreived from the sea on the twelth and thirteenth of April 2002 and they were buried on the seventeenth of April.

This makes Christmas really hard on all the family, especially on my mother and sister in law, my younger brother myself, my brothers two daughters and the five other grandchildren. I know our ''Three Michaels''' would want us to enjoy Christmas just as we did when they were alive and that is why we do our best to make it extra special for the wee ones. We all went to mass last night, while the turkey was cooking in the oven after mass we put te kids to bed and went about putting out their gifts and sure enough they were estatic this morning when they woke to see Santa had came. We had our Christmas Dinner at 1.30pm tidied round then opened the presents under the tree, we then played wth the children and their new toys, at 7.30pm we went to visit the rest of the family stayed with them for a while and played with our nephews' and neices toys, my husband had a few drinks and then we went to put the holly wreaths on the two graves. Now we are going to get a nice cuppa and hit bed early as the children were up very early this morning.

This might seem boring to some people but when you lose three members of your family in one day you appreciate the simple things in life and you learn to take each day as it comes and live your life to the fullest.

Hope you all had a great day and have a happy, peaceful and holy New Year x x

Well mine has been a bit different

Went out for a family meal and my grandson became poorly and threw up all over my daughter(tummy bug)
My daughter is early in pregnancy and can't take anything like that so she threw up as well
They went home and a couple of days later my son in law got the "Bug" throwing up all over the place
Christmas day here at last, more kilo's of turkey than you could imagine and my daughter wakes up 2am throwing up and "squits" beyond your wildest dreams.
So today we had chips and a few sausages and hopefully tomorrow we will have our Christmas dinner with all the trimmings

Can you think to what I am thinking. Yes it's probably going to be mine and my wife's turn to have the dreaded squits from both ends tomorrow, but hey it's christmas

Hope you all have had a great day. I have had better Christmas days but I love my family and they are all OK and that's all that counts

My Christmas has been good. My husband made pancakes for breakfast. My Yahoo jacket came today on Christmas and we have a new mattress that makes sleeping better. We are leaving in a few minutes to go to a movie and a Chinese dinner.

Exhausting, kids up at dawn, never the right batteries (no matter how many you bought), ate too much, couldn't sleep this afternoon and now I've got a night shift!

Once a year is almost too much.

All the best for the next one.
