Got a new computer for my dad, want to export old e-mails - he used Outlook Express, I'd like him to switch to Thunderbird but he needs to be able to access old e-mails.

Also, he needs his old address book. Can an address book be exported from Outlook Express and imported into Thunderbird?

Open Thunderbird, go to the tools menu, and go down to import, you can do it from there.

Outlook is for connecting to change servers. Thunderbird is for connecting to POP/IMAP servers. Outlook promises a brilliant form of different (ordinarily company) centers like Contacts, Calendar, initiatives, etc. Thunderbird basically does e mail and Contacts (handle e book). the two cope with unsolicited mail in a similar procedures. Outlook is greater in threat of embedded malicious attachments. in the Mozilla-verse, purposes like calendaring are dealt with via Sunbird. as quickly as you get your e mail into Outlook, you could no longer get it out.
