downloading, the Itunes things says, Ipod update is complete, but my ipod still says do not disconnect. When I disconnect it anyway, it'll erase all the music I've had on there before and only have my new music, what do I do.

It may be that the ipod is charging - just hit the eject button on the bottom right of the screen and it'll let you disconnect safely.

In the lower righthand corner there is a picture of a little harddrive (it looks sort of like a little green cube over a newspaper) It should say "Safely remove hardware" when you put the mouse over it. click on it twice and say stop to the USB Mass Storage Device process. Then you'll be able to disconnet your Ipod safely.

This use to happen to me too. Are you using the same computer everytime you download songs or different computers? I used to download my songs at school and i used a different computer everytime to download my songs. It would update but erase everything i had on it except the new songs i downloaded. Maybe this is happening with you? Hope this helps.

Easy answer..... leave it plugged in until it says ready to disconnect.
Also, check your settings to see if you have it on automatic update in which case it would delete all previous songs and only leave you with your new playlist. I find it easier to select the manually update & edit playlists so that i don't lose any info.

You have to eject your ipod in itunes hit your ipod icon which is above your playlists and it should work.

after you have your songs you might have to exit itunes and then click back on itunes and then it should go on!
