when you bought the p.c you should of got a recovery cd with all the software you got
this cd will restore your p.c to the state it was in when you took it out the box,in real terms this disk is basically a windows xp disc but with a few extra files specially added to your system
simply insert this and reboot the system(this is where you are going wrong) and when the p.c first starts up(the bios screen) press delete to enter set up and when in set up go into "advanced bios settings" and change the "boot order" to 1st..cd-rom 2nd ..hard drive 3rd floppy drive ,then remember to save and exit set up and then when the p.c boots up you will see a screen saying "press any key to boot from cd" press the space bar and then windows xp will continue to install
simply follow the prompts when asked, and sit back and let windows xp install...dont worry xp is the easiest of all the windows versions to install,as it does it all automatically
once the installation is complete its then just a case of installing all the drivers and anti-virus/anti-spyware software and your done
some new p.c,s have recovery built in ,by pressing f10 your can recover the whole pc,this is because there is a seperate partition built intop the hard drive which restores the p.c
just amke sure that you reboot the p.c and install the recovery cd that way,as this way is how you install windows xp disks that you buy brand new, such as upgrade versions
give it a go and let me know if you have any success
good luck and happy xmas

try the system restore feauture on your pc, it enables you to restore your pc to an earlier time eg before you deleted the D drive.

go to 1)start
2)all programs
3)accessories
4) system tools
5) system restore

this will restore your pc to an earlier date. hope this helps ;)
