Since it only happens once a year, then stay with them. Believe me when I say this, but one day, you're going to wish you were back in these times with your family. Enjoy the time you have with them now while they're still here, because when they pass, you'll miss them and the times that were special to them. Best of luck to you.

Start a new family tradition: The Christmas Census

Grab some paper & pens, and have everyone write down their...
-- Favorite Taste? Smell? Sight? Sound? Touch/Texture?
-- Most Memorable Christmas (Best, Worst, or most Interesting)
-- What makes christmas "Christmas"? (As in, it's just not "Christmas" without _____
-- Ages 16 & Up: What was Christmas like when you were little?
-- Ages 15 to Toddlers: What is the first (earliest) Christmas you remember?
-- What's your favorite Christmas movie/song.

The answers don't have to be long, just enough to jog your memory.
Even the littlest ones can take part, if they can't answer a question, have them draw a picture of it. Even if it's just scribbles.
Be sure they put down their name and the year, and put everything into a binder or scrapbook, and build on it each year with new questions.

Wow I thought my family was bad. At least we don't watch tv. But still it's pretty boring, it's just something you gotta do and get over with you know, no one likes those big family get togethers. Its bad for me because my step fathers side of the family is harsh rich and succesful, Im not poor or anything but they start busting out their 600 dollar phones and talking about their cottages in whistler and Im just like... how bout those canucks? It's seriously a struggle for me to just keep the conversation rolling because I feel inferior to them, even though they're my family and Im pretty familiar with them. They're all so beautiful and have so much going on in their lives and I dont really. But I get through it. And then I go home and masturb... uh, go to bed.

I'm guessing that you're still in middle school or high school. Am I right? Anyway, here are my ideas.

-Liven things up a bit. If you have siblings, get together and work on a dance routine to show off to your parents.
-Get out the musical instruments (if you have them) and play Christmas music.
-Make a scavenger hunt for your parents. They have to follow clues to find a special letter that you wrote to them.

Play games! Board games or card games- I know it might sound lame at first but really, my entire family and I play games and it's so fun! Especially if you have good games like Sequence, Scene it, Apples to Apples, Sorry, or Trivial Persuit.
I also recommend singing Christmas songs together- it will be especially fun if there are little kids. They will love it!
Merry Christmas!!

You can just sit back and enjoy the fact that you still have a family to be with on Christmas.

My parents died suddenly a few years ago and I wish they were still alive today to do "boring things" with.

Just sit with them and enjoy them, even if you don't want to. I wish I could turn back time and just sit with my family, but all of that is over, some of them have passed on and some of them have their own families, be pleased that you have a family to sit and talk with, remember that they won't be there forever.

Kick it with somebody for the day, and spend Christmas night with your family.
