If you are in California, this website will give you a listing of all the fees and education involved to obtain a real estate salesperson license: http://www.dre.ca.gov/. Look under Examinees (left hand side of the home page). Exam fee is $25.00, license is $120.

Probably depends on your location. In Georgia, about $4K in the first year. There are licensing fees, monthly dues, annual dues, and errors and omission insurance (E&O) payments. That is just the tip of the iceburg, but the rest you don't pay unless you are actually earning a commission. Interview with several major brokers and some mom & pop shops before you jump in the water. Best of luck

It can be very expensive. With quarterly dues, yearly dues, business cards, finger prints, real estate classes, crash course, licensing fees it all adds up. But it can be very rewarding down the road.
