That would very much depend on what your cat actually DID to the budgie, but assuming that its just ate it, tell her he's keeping it warm until tomorrow and buy her another one! LOL

Just tell her that some cats practice kung-fu, and the budgie was saying bad things about said feline's mother.

Just show her Sylvester and tweety pie, but say that her budgie wasn't as clever as tweety pie and that it deserved to die for being able to get caught by a cat. You can then explain natural selection and why weaker things must die to strengthen their races.
