the pattern I need is the kind that a cut-out slides down into another cut-out that makes it like a three-D reindeer.

Here is an easy one I made several years ago with my Papa (RIP) that can be dismantled and easily stored, yet is quite simple and inexpensive to make. Plus, the only tools you need is a saw, drill and your creativity. You can find most everthing you need in your yard just by pruning your trees or raiding your woodpile, too. Find a branch or log that is about 5 inches in diameter to prune. (I left the bark on mine) Cut all of the branches off keeping them for later use. Drill 4 holes in one side of the log for the legs and scan your branches for 4 that will fit into the holes and act as legs. Trim the bark from those branches. at the ends enough to fit in the drilled holes. Now look for another branch for the reindeer's neck which needs to be wider than the legs. Cut the end at an angle and screw it into the reindeer body. Now look for another log that is about 3 inches in diameter for the head and it needs to be a lot smaller and shorter than the body for porportion. Drill two holes in the head for the antlers. Look for branches that are forked to use as antlers, strip the bark at the ends and insert into the holes in the head. Use a diagonal strip cut from a small branch to connect to the backside as a tail and two more to use as ears out the side of the head. Now you can decorate your reindeer any way you want. I don't have a face on mine, but you certainly can create one. I hang all kinds of things around its neck, evergreen garlands with pinecones and outdoor ribbon. Some years I string lights around him making the one on his nose red. Sometimes I put a santa cap and batting on him to make a beard. Let your imagination be your guide. It's a very rustic looking reindeer, but you will have one that no one else (but me) will have!
