Liberals conceived the ideals of liberty and freedom. For liberals, this is an ideology that is a work still in progress. It is a liberal mindset to continuously question their ideals. This is both a strength and a weakness in liberalism.
Conservatives joined the ideology of liberty and freedom. Conservatives will face the devil himself in defense of their ideals without question. This is both a strength and weakness in conservatism.
United in the ideal of liberty and freedom Liberals and Conservatives are invincible. Isn't it time liberals and Conservatives realize that they both defend the same cause? Isn't it time for a bit of mutual respect?

Wow ... the lib's have embraced freedom? No more gun control, confiscating over half of the federal budget for social programs to buy votes, or over-regulate businesses to the point of closing? Symbiosis? Hmmmm. More like a confidence game. Isn't it strange that so many people agree and disagree so perfectly that they all fit in two distinctive and seperate factions. Impossible. Its a scam. The prodiminantly 2 party system is a complete jip. Tell me ... if elected to a post, would you vote the party line or your conscience? If you break from the line you will be a short timer. As for the relationship , here it is. Each side points out a problem that is the fault of the other...a side attempts to 'fix' the problem. Then the original complaining side fights tooth and nail to halt the 'fix' suggested by the other party. Nothing i fixed, but there are still problems that politicians can complain about to ensure that there are problems to fight about next election. Its a bunch of do-less elitists justifying their jobs until they retire on some over priced pension. C'mon. With all of these 'intelligent' people...doctors, lawyers, big businessmen(and women) that they can't balance the country's checkbook? If I ran a company using the methods of the US congress, I would be in prison for the rest of my life. Its a scam. Don't you see the hipocracy? A full-time member of the ethics committee got drunk, got behind the wheel of a car, and crashed into a river killing the passenger, without doing any jail time, no fines, no penalty what so ever. This is the lot protecting us. A recent president illegaly accessed FBI files and had them removed from the archive...a felony. Stock frauds, bribes, purgery, wiretaps, the wierd deathof Vince Foster, the disappearance of Chandra Levy (sp error). Heck, the Sopranos have taken over the country. Its all a fraud. Mutual respect? Its the Chicago Way.

Yes, and there are a few within both ideologies that have come to this conclusion. Unfortunately, the majority of both are too occupied with sniping at the other.
In all truth, what the world badly needs is more moderates to speak out. I don't think it'll happen though. The children do seem to scream the loudest.

i'd say that all of it in basic terms relies upon on the way you look at it. I evaluate myself to be a conservative, yet i do no longer particularly perceive with maximum present day-day conservatives. Liberals look to compliment to realize a extra robust experience of social justice and equality. they like a extra socialist type of government; one that can supply the easy must its human beings. they have faith in a residing shape and are not strict constructionists whilst it is composed of Constitutional concerns. A conservative is person who needs much less government interference. They too long for equality, yet decide directly to realize it because of the fact human beings decide on it, no longer because of the fact the government forces it. they are regularly strict constructionists whilst it is composed of Constitutional concerns and have faith the words in the form communicate for themselves and decide on little to no interpretation. Now you will desire to understand that those definitions are the classic definitions of liberal and conservative. they could no longer inevitably be an precise mirrored photograph of what you already know as liberal or conservative.

Yes, it reminds me of the Reverend Jonathan Whirley in the movie Dragnet when he said: What good is the Moral Majority if there is no evil to be outraged about?

Very well put. Both need each other and the fact that today's political debates have turned into hateful squabbling is sad.

Behind closed doors, politicians get along fine. Unfortunately, it is their constituents which thrive on the appearance of conflict.

Wouldn't that be somewhat of a dictatorship though?

I agree that they should difinitely have more respect for eachother and especially stop with all of the slander and libel.

It just seems that if they unite, either another party will develop that will oppose this union or we will be left with a single party or dictatorship of some sort.

I think they are more related than acknowledged by either side. By remain so divided and argumentative they do not have to come up with solutions to problems.
