most of the components as they all need each other to work , if you did not have a hard drive no were to put operating system , no operating system pc will not function so many bits rely on each other for it to work correctly , inside there is a mother board hard drive cpu and fan power unit and you have a dvd writer and you can have floppy disk with out dvd or cd writer can not install operating systsm
